NTT Global Data Centers EMEA certified against PCI DSS v4.0 for the first time

6. March 2023

NTT Global Data Centers EMEA, leading data center provider in Europe, successfully completed the joint PCI DSS certification project with usd AG on March 1, 2023. As a result, NTT Global Data Centers EMEA offers its customers a demonstrably secure environment for credit card data and obtained its certification against the latest version 4.0 of the standard ahead of schedule.

As a global company, NTT GDC EMEA provides high-performance, high-value data center services and products to customers around the world. As part of the PCI DSS certification process, a team of assessors from usd AG, led by lead assessor Jan Kemper, reviewed approximately 20 NTT sites in mainland Europe, the United Kingdom and South Africa.

"We are always impressed by how well the processes and infrastructures are harmonized across NTT GDC EMEA's various sites," said Jan Kemper. "With data centers spread across multiple countries, sometimes varying greatly in size and customer volume, this is certainly a challenge that demands a good understanding of security and compliance issues. Thanks to this great foundation, we were able to complete the PCI DSS certification project with NTT swiftly and structure the audit processes even more efficiently for the future as we transition to PCI DSS v4.0."

The PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) is a binding and globally applicable security standard for handling credit card data. With the annual certification, companies prove that they comply with the strict security requirement of the standard. NTT GDC EMEA customers also enjoy a much simplified certification process for their own businesses thanks to the data center provider's PCI DSS certification.

"Our customers trust our services and products to perform business-critical tasks," says Sebastian Einicke, Director Governance at NTT Global Data Centers EMEA. "Accordingly, we take our responsibility to provide them with a highly available, secure environment in which their data is protected to the best of our ability seriously. We are delighted that our successful PCI DSS v4.0 certification this year again confirms that we are fully compliant with all PCI DSS security requirements in our data centers. Many thanks to the usd AG assessor team for the competent advice and the cooperative partnership."
