"The Hacker Contest is a valuable component of our mission. Because giving students a hands-on understanding of the importance of penetration testing for IT security is more important than ever. " emphasizes Tobias Hamann, Senior Consultant IT Security at usd HeroLab. "That's why we are all pleased that we can share our knowledge and experience as pentest professionals with many aspiring experts again next semester."
The practical course "Hacker Contest" is led by Pentest Professionals from the usd HeroLab and will take place again in the winter semester 2023/24 at the Technical University (TU) Darmstadt. Matthias Göhring, Head of usd HeroLab, Tobias Hamann, and Tim Wörner, both Senior Consultants IT Security in the usd HeroLab, will give the participants concrete insights into IT security and show them how to test IT systems and applications for vulnerabilities and how to exploit them afterwards. The usd PentestLab provides a controlled environment in which the participants can try out various tools and attacks on IT systems and applications. In this way, they learn in a playful way how penetration testers work and how important their role is for information security.
How can you participate in the Hacker Contest?
To register for the Hacker Contest, you have to be enrolled at TU Darmstadt and first solve a registration challenge that is created new each semester by our Pentest Professionals. The challenge has been online since Monday, September 25, 2023 and you have until Wednesday, October 18, 2023 to submit your results. Shortly afterwards you will find out if you are in. The sample solution of the challenge will then be published by our Pentest Professionals in their LabNews.
We are looking forward to numerous applications and an exciting semester!
